In June 06 the no of air travelers in India increased by 26 % in six months, touching over 18 millions going by aviation expert’s prediction the no could rise to 50 million over next 5 yrs. The heightened activity in air traffic has been further boosted by the entry of low cost airlines and other private players. With the boom in the aviation industry there is a growing demand for manpower.
2010 common wealth games is all set to usher in a big boom in the hotel & tourism industry. Union law minister H.L. Bhardwaj has said that the govt. would expedite land allocation of 40 five star hotel in Delhi before 2010 common wealth games. Today’s travel agent market is one which no hotel or motel of any size can ignore. This year travel agents will book 60% of domestic travel tickets sold 90% of international air travel and some US $ 2 billion in hotel sales.
With over 1 lakh tourist expected to visit capital during common wealth there is a great need to have hotels in diff category. Right now only 6500 rooms are available with star category hotel. There is a need to increase the rooms in five star category by another 10000.Indian railway moves about 12 million people daily i.e. almost equal to the population of Australia. Indian hotels are one of its prime attraction and its best properties are the envy of most other tourism and business destinations around he world. No other county can boost off as may properties frequently quoted as the best in the world.
It’s party time for the hospitality industry in Delhi. Thanks to renewed boom in both corporate and leisure travel coupled with the ongoing marriage season demand, hotel room rates in the Capital have peaked to a 10 year high $250 (Rs. 11,000) a night.
“Mini India” within Delhi soon. Delhi will soon add a hip-n-happening tourist destination. The government is planning to open an amusement park on the lines of Indonesia Miniature Park called mini India. Planned on a 25-acre land site, mini India will have stalls of each state. These stalls will showcase folk dance, music, culture, art, cuisine and the history of each state.
Hotel occupancy rate goes up by 6.5%.Even as all India average revenue indicates a rise of Rs. 23.4 crore per hotel in 2004-05, the occupancy rate increased by 6.5 percent. The Indian Hotel Industry Survey 2004-05 also holds many surprises with Vishakhapatnam emerging as the market leader in occupancy, registering 80.6% occupancy. This was followed by Bangalore with 79.8% occupancy.
India has been ranked No. 5 as the world’s best tourist hotspots.
